James H. Ouimette
Jim Ouimette is the founding partner of Ouimette & Runcie, and has been practicing law in Vergennes, Vermont for over 40 years. Jim’s practice focuses on the areas of residential and commercial Real Estate transactions, Estate Planning, Wills & Trusts, Municipal Law and Zoning.
Jim first moved to Addison County as a freshman at Middlebury College in 1967 and received his Bachelor of Arts from Middlebury in 1971 (B.A. 1971). He spent the next three years teaching mathematics at Vergennes Union High School before enrolling at the University of Maine School of Law. During Law School, Jim was the Managing Editor of the Maine Law Review, and received his Juris Doctor in 1977 (J.D. 1977).
After graduating from law school, Jim completed a year-long clerkship at the Vermont Supreme Court working under the Honorable Franklin S. Billings, Jr., then returned to Vergennes in 1978. That same year, Jim opened his own law firm in Vergennes, and has been a staple of the local community ever since.
When not at work, Jim enjoys cross-country skiing, hiking, kayaking, cycling, sailing, kettlebells, and when younger loved to play basketball. Jim is also very active in his local church choir and the Burlington Choral Society.
Jim and his wife Barb of over 45 years reside in North Ferrisburgh, and have three children and four grandchildren.
